As a decorator myself I can appreciate the importance of art when styling a room. I enjoy working with fellow designers to create the perfect piece of art that compliments their design. Whether you’re looking for a bold focal piece or a subtle painting to tie the room together, I can work with you to create a custom painting of your choice. I work with designers by using colour swatches that match the colours within the space.

Commissionning A Painting

Creating custom paintings for collectors is my favourite! I break the process down into easy steps to keep it simple and fun.

Step One

Let’s connect! Measure your space and decide on an approximate size that fits. Find a few of my paintings you really like and send me an email. It’s that easy!
Don’t worry if you haven’t narrowed it down, I just want to get an idea of what your likes and dislikes are.

Step Two

This is where the real fun begins. We will chat back and forth about colours and composition. Once we’ve established the concept, expectations, price & timeline I will send you a contract and an invoice for a deposit. Once the deposit is paid I will get started on your custom painting!

Step Three

This is where you’ll find me in the studio, probably listening to music while I work on your custom painting. I will send progress photos along the way, this is where we can chat about any minor changes you may request. Don’t worry, the painting will not be complete until you are 100% happy with the final piece! Once the painting is approved, signed and sealed with a spray varnish, there can be no changes. A final invoice will be sent and once it’s paid in full the painting will be carefully packaged up and sent off to its forever home.

Step Four

It’s the big day! Once your painting has arrived and hung, sit back and enjoy. Share your photos and don’t forget to tag @brittneytraverart on social media.

FAQS

How do I figure out the perfect size for my custom painting? - The easiest way is to measure! I also find using painters tape to map out the size on the wall is very helpful. Feel free to send me photos of your space so I can provide some feedback.

I like a few of your pieces, can you combine different elements into one painting? - Absolutely! I want to hear what you like or don’t like about certain pieces. Send me pictures and have fun with it! I want you to be 100% happy with the outcome, so please don’t be shy.

Can I request changes during the commissioned process? - I will be sending along progress shots during the commissioned process, at that time we can chat about any minor changes to colours and composition. Please be patient as custom paintings take time.

Why is a commissioned painting more expensive than your other paintings? - Because this painting is just for you! The commissioned process is different from my regular painting process. There’s a lot of communication back and forth thus taking up studio time. I promise it will be well worth the investment.

What is the average timeline for a commissioned painting? - It varies depending on size and subject matter. Please allow a minimum of 4 weeks.

How much will it be to ship my painting? - Size and location will determine the price of shipping, send me an email and I can provide a quote.
Please note that local pickup is also available in Brantford, Ontario.

Do you accept refunds or returns? - Since this is a custom piece I cannot accept returns or refunds. In the event the painting gets damaged in shipping please provide me with detailed photos within 3 days.
